Now - this is slightly too big for my pinky - if it was not it would not have seen light of day in the shop. And yes, I know, I can size it down - but something in my heart struggles with cutting up ancient 15ct gold that will never exist again. Sanding that millimetre or two down feels heavy on my heart. So while I wrestle with my heart - she is available.
15ct Gold was only used from the middle of the 1800s to 1932 - and that is what makes it so special to us - it is finite - and fabulously old.
The shield face did have some very faint engravings - so we thought that a blank face was a better call. But we did decide on a rustic brush finish - and no polishing (much to the chagrin of our jewellers). The patina on the shoulders and underside is just so magical - and it has taken decades. So a supervised brush to the face was all they were allowed.
Particulars:
Size L1/2 or just over 6, might feel half a size smaller due to width (sizeable BUT 15ct is not made anymore so you would be mixing metals)
Weight 3.47g
Width 10 x 10.5mm face shank tapering to 2.2 x 0.75mm
Hallmarks "15CT"
Condition - face has been brushed to remove the very light engraving/ pattern that remained - it is not polished - it has been done to try to fit with the vintique piece - none of the old patina removed. Surface scratches as would be expected with age.
Care - As a general rule - jewellery should not be worn for strenuous tasks that may put pressure, chemicals and weight on them (think cleaning, gym, swimming/spa, carrying things). Jewellery should be inspected checked every six months by a jeweller to check for wear.
Please be aware that this item is pre-loved and therefore is NOT new. Please see the pictures and description to ensure you are happy with it before you buy. FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.
Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.

However, we use a number of instruments to help us determine stones and list these details in the description of each piece.
