Silver from Thailand has had a lovely history of hallmarks. Starting with the "Siam Sterling" in the 1940s - the hallmarks progressed as the name of the region did also. "Thailand Sterling" was used between the 1950s and 1980s when the "925" or S925" became standard.

This amazing locket is therefore at least 50 years old and we adore the idea of lockets and keeping photos of loved ones close to the heart. This gorgeous round locket is in great condition - it opens and closes smoothly and has a great closed shape. Both inserts also pop out so you could easily add photos of loved ones to wear it as it was originally intended.

Finally there is that amazing hand carved patter - the swirls of leaves and buds, the cross hatching which has become fabulous and deep with patina, and the sheen and gentle sparkle of the polished silver buds and leaves that catch the light so nicely.

Held from a large decorative swinging v-bail there is no end of chains you could wear this locket on.

Particulars:

Weight11.59g

Width33.4 x 30mm x 9.95mm (not including bail) on a v-bail with opening 10 x 4.4mm

Hallmarks  THAILAND STERLING

Condition - no dings - clasp works well, the frames can both come out so photos could be put in. Engraving is hand carved, patina build up. We have given it a good hand polish - but it is semi hollow so we have not wet or submerged it. Some wear to the top of bail - but lots of life left in it.

Care - As a general rule - jewellery should not be worn for strenuous tasks that may put pressure, chemicals and weight on them (think cleaning, gym, swimming/spa, carrying things). Jewellery should be inspected checked every six months by a jeweller to check for wear.

Please be aware that this item is pre-loved and therefore is NOT new. Please see the pictures and description to ensure you are happy with it before you buy. Stones may have tiny marks, chips or flea bites, metal will have marks of wear like surface scratches; but any bigger flaws will be clearly highlighted above. Also note - none of the other items or props in the photo come with the item and all measurements are approximate.

All full priced items are available on lay-by, sale items can be bought on a split payment.

FAQ

Sizing

What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.

We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.

Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.

Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.

Lay-by

Lay-by is available on all full price items (sale items can be bought on a split payment).

As well as Afterpay and Paypal Pay-in-4 which are available at checkout, we also do traditional lay-by.

Valuations

Some of our items come with valuations we either got with the piece, or that we have had done by an independent gemologist. We do not get valuations done on all pieces as we like to keep things as affordable as possible. However, we use a number of instruments to help us determine stones and list these details in the description of each piece.
