We do love a chunky vintage 1970s sapphire and diamond classic and we have been fortunate to have a couple though the shop. Each has its own personality and style - and this one is a show pony in the sunshine and subdued in the shade. The hand cut natural sapphire is dark and demure in the shade - it is inky and dark like the night sky. We love this contrast of the dark against the white diamonds - the tall white gold U shaped setting, and the rosier yellow gold. But, take her into the sunshine and this showpony comes to life. The shallower cut stone means the light dances through the darker colour easier and the blues and even corners of teal are like a royal blue blue kaleidoscope.
Set with diamonds in the shoulders - these offer a lively gentle sparkle and a great balance of colour. Made in the 1970s (ish) when gold was substantially cheaper - this is a chunky and great example of the Era.
There is a scratch on the shoulder - if you want it buffed out a little - we can do this - it will add a day or so to posting times - and remove the years of patina that have built up.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.
Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.
