Take us back to a time when blue zircons were the rage - the en vogue stone. These are without question one of our favourite natural stones - and these blues - that were popular from Victorian times until the 1930s is cover some of our favourite Eras of jewellery. Blue zircons are heated - they are not found this colour in nature - but just look at the colour - like the most amazing shallow ocean lapping a sandy bay. This stone is so sparkly - as you would expect from zircons - and paired with two diamonds this is a fabulous piece.

Held in a handmade 18ct yellow gold setting - you can see even by the placement of the  claws that this piece is entirely handmade - and has had claws etc re-worked over its lifetime. The shoulders are platinum - classic 1930s style - the mixed metal and the platinum shoulders for that brightness for the diamond. The hand carved shoulders are a delight - and are truly one of the things we love most about this Era.

Particulars:

Size just over M1/2 or 6.5 (sizeable)

Weight 2.80g

Width 10.35 x 8.3mm x 4.95mm proud on a half round shank of 1.6 x 1.25mm

2 x early brilliant natural diamonds 2.5mm - combined approx 0.15ct

1 x blue zircon - 9 x 7mm - approx 2.25ct

Hallmarks  - none - tested for 18ct Gold, and platinum

Condition - this is a pre-loved hand made ring - the claws have had work - you can see gold solder on the platinum shoulders. Stone is secure but a couple of the claws are a little catchy - we did not want to get them filed as this would lose more claw tip - some chips to stone face - as expected with a stone only 7 on the Mohs Scale. Stone handcut and quite shallow.  Condition has been reflected in the price.

Care - As a general rule - jewellery should not be worn for strenuous tasks that may put pressure, chemicals and weight on them (think cleaning, gym, swimming/spa, carrying things). Jewellery should be inspected checked every six months by a jeweller to check for wear. Zircons will scratch over time - it is part of owning them.

Please be aware that this item is pre-loved and therefore is NOT new. Please see the pictures and description to ensure you are happy with it before you buy. Stones may have tiny marks, chips or flea bites, metal will have marks of wear like surface scratches; but any bigger flaws will be clearly highlighted above. Also note - none of the other items or props in the photo come with the item and all measurements are approximate.

All items (except Second Glance) are available on lay-by - please get in touch to discuss options.

FAQ

Sizing

What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.

We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.

Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.

Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.

Lay-by

As well as Afterpay and Paypal Pay-in-4 which are available at checkout, we also do traditional lay-by.

So, if you love this piece but can't afford it right now - please get in touch.

To secure your item, we require a 20% non-refundable deposit. Items will not be removed from the website until this is paid.

Following this, you will need to make further monthly payments of 20% until the full balance is complete, a time frame of 5 months in total.

Invoices will be issued at the start of each month and we ask they are paid before the start of the following month.

We issue all invoices through the website, and it accepts all cards, Shop Pal, Paypal and Afterpay as payment.

Valuations

Some of our items come with valuations we either got with the piece, or that we have had done by an independent gemologist. We do not get valuations done on all pieces as we like to keep things as affordable as possible. However, we use a number of instruments to help us determine stones and list these details in the description of each piece.
