In our stone collection we have some amazing sapphires - 50 we managed to get in a parcel from a lovely old gent who had fossicked and hand cut stones from all over Australia, but mostly the Glen Innes region. Having put them into a handful of rings, this beauty may well be the last of the trilogies.
These oval and nearly round stones are wonderful in their rustic cuts - made to maximise the stones that he found. And that is what is to love about them - no high fangled technology, no precision cutting, just a man and his finds at a lapidary club, cutting them into shapes that best suit the individual stones.
The centre stone here is dominated by those parti blue greens, and framed by two olive green sapphires - in slightly different hues. We love this pairing - the range of colours of sapphires that Australia has to offer in the green range. The centre stone has lovely colour play - from the hunter green, through blues and even fronds of yellow. The richness of the gold and the warmth of the olive green stones really allow this one to sing.
The split shoulders are also set with illusion set diamonds (one little single cut diamond in amongst rhodium plated gold claws)which offer a great sparkle and lovely finger coverage and detail. This ring is a fairly modern made Michael Hill ring - cast in structure, semi hollow on the top, but still a good solid weight and now with stones that are much more fitting for a 3g gold ring.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.
Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.
