Our hunt for East African gems has been a long and fulfilling process. As well as our amazing unheated beauties we have managed to get some really fabulous clean heated beauties. Now - when we say heated - you need to understand that most tanzanites are low grade heated (like 95%). It is a standard practise and it just elevates the colour - and because it is so standard for the gems - it does not decrease the value. So our hunt has purely been to find tanzanite of other colours.
Tanzanite is almost mined out. It comes from very small deposits in Tanzania (and over the border into Kenya) an area approx 10 x 10km.
This fabulous stone is the most glorious mix of blues and purples and it dances between the two magnificently. Claw set in white gold we love the crispness of the white gold against the lavender, hyacinth, periwinkles and iris hues. To add to the richness of the stone, the band of the ring is the most gorgeous rose gold - and we love the rich rose gold hues and how this brings out the blush of the stone.
Weighing in at 1 carat, claw set in 6 strong claws - this is a great solitaire.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.
Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.

Valuations
Some of our items come with valuations we either got with the piece, or that we have had done by an independent gemologist. However, we use a number of instruments to help us determine stones and list these details in the description of each piece.
