Popular since Victorian times, bamboo jewellery started its popularity as the trade with Japan in the 1880-1900s ramped up. This amazing styling has had numerous revivals and it is no surprise with the fabulous natural look of the piece, the repetitive stylised pattern and the way the light (and patina) catches the grooves. 

This particular semi hollow bamboo silver bangle was made in Birmingham - back when hallmark years ran from 1st July to 30th June. This gorgeous piece was made between 1st July 1962 and 30th June 1963. Made with care and precision - this piece is hallmarked on both halves and features a hand made clasp and safety chain. 

This piece has been pre-loved - it is slightly out of shape - likely there became a slightly flat base on it from years of wear. It still functions perfectly, and i found the "base" quite functional when i sat typing in it - it rested nicely.

Size internal 59 x 53mm - hinged to get over the hand 

Weight 17.96g 

Width 12mm x 5.25mm (at the widest) 

Hallmarks  fully hallmarked for Sterling Silver 1962-1963 Birmingham and a maker's mark "C.P.S" 

Condition - slightly out of shape- an almost flat base section - opens and closes well. Build up of patina left in place for new owner to decide to keep or polish. Surface scratches as expected with age and wear. 

Care - As a general rule - jewellery should not be worn for strenuous tasks that may put pressure, chemicals and weight on them (think cleaning, gym, swimming/spa, carrying things). Jewellery should be inspected checked every six months by a jeweller to check for wear.

Please be aware that this item is pre-loved and therefore is NOT new. Please see the pictures and description to ensure you are happy with it before you buy. Stones may have tiny marks, chips or flea bites, metal will have marks of wear like surface scratches; but any bigger flaws will be clearly highlighted above. Also note - none of the other items or props in the photo come with the item and all measurements are approximate.

Sizing

What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.

We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.

Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.

Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.

Lay-by

As well as Afterpay and Paypal Pay-in-4 which are available at checkout, we also do traditional lay-by.

To secure your item, we require a 20% non-refundable deposit. Items will not be removed from the website until this is paid.

Following this, you will need to make further monthly payments of 20% until the full balance is complete, a time frame of 5 months in total. 

Invoices will be issued at the start of each month and we ask they are paid before the start of the following month.

We issue all invoices through the website, and it accepts all cards, Shop Pal, Paypal and Afterpay as payment.

Valuations

Some of our items come with valuations we either got with the piece, or that we have had done by an independent gemologist. We do not get valuations done on all pieces as we like to keep things as affordable as possible. However, we use a number of instruments to help us determine stones and list these details in the description of each piece.

Shipping

Australian based company shipping to Australia and New Zealand.

Parcels are shipped within 24 hours.

Australian shipping is express post and fully insured.

International items under $500 are shipped standard airmail and items over $500 express airmail.

All items are sent trackable, fully insured and requiring a signature on delivery.

Any items leaving Australia will have a signed customs declaration stating what is in the box.
