If we were forced into a corner and made to pick - we would pick blue gemstones. I say we, but with Jacqui on maternity - I get the sweeping vote myself. Perhaps as girls who grew up under the midnight skies of Africa, and now live right beside the majestic sweeping Pacific Ocean, we have always been drawn to the big blue spaces.
Peer into this stone and we see the skies at night - the most magical stars of royal blue and white dancing in the navy skies. Think of those amazing photos of galaxies across our skies and this is what we see in this stone. The dainty facets dancing and the constant shift of colour and sparkle appearing and disappearing.
Held in a fabulously strong 6 claw setting (in 14ct white gold) we love the constrast of the dark and light; and add to it the mixed metal of the band - we are smitten with that addition of warmth. Called by our valuer an Arris edge band (it isn't on google - we checked) - we love that high rounded profile of the band (like a rounded off knife edge - that runs a lot of the way around the band). This gives a lovely thick and purposeful feel on the hand - whilst also a more dainty look.
With the higher setting it also means that this sits nearly flush to a band - making it another reason (next to gemstone choice and claws) that would make this an excellent engagement ring choice.
Particulars:
Size N1/2 or just under 7(sizeable)
Weight 2.51g
Width 7.2 x 6.8 x 7.2mm proud on half round shank of 1.8 x 1.4mm
Stone - 5.7mm round blue teal natural sapphire - 0.8ct known weight
Hallmarks "14K"
Condition - new stone - there are some minor marks on a couple of external facets - like tiny dots visible with 10x loupe - we think this came from when it was originally faceted - that this edge was perhaps closer to a surface edge and therefore not as polished, claws are good in length and strength, light surface wear to metal.
Care - As a general rule - jewellery should not be worn for strenuous tasks that may put pressure, chemicals and weight on them (think cleaning, gym, swimming/spa, carrying things). Jewellery should be inspected checked every six months by a jeweller to check for wear.
Please be aware that this item is pre-loved and therefore is NOT new. Please see the pictures and description to ensure you are happy with it before you buy. Stones may have tiny marks, chips or flea bites, metal will have marks of wear like surface scratches; but any bigger flaws will be clearly highlighted above. Also note - none of the other items or props in the photo come with the item and all measurements are approximate.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.
Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.
