To imagine this ring being made, you need to transport yourself to the late Victorian times. This incredible piece is elegant but rustic in its manufacture. This ring features 7 wishbones of hand engraved gold, each set with a diamonds, all clustered round central claw set diamonds. The gold only just fails a 14ct acid test (and passes a 10ct) - this tells us that it is likely up closer to 12ct gold - however, looking at this piece and its rustic style - it is probably just what the jeweller had and melted that was turned into a ring - rather than a set carat.

Rose cut diamonds were all the rage in the Victorian Era, hand carved and looked fabulous by candlelight. Three of these stones test as diamonds  and the others appear to be a quartz. 7 of these stones are rose cut, and wonderfully there is a table cut in there too - just for good measure. And this tells us lots about the jeweller who made this ring - he used what he had. The rose cut stones are feeling their age, a couple are still lovely, but other are chipped and one is even cleaved. Because of this - at some point someone has put a layer of resin/ glue on the underside of the face of the ring. We spent ages with the jeweller and hand removed all the bits on the outside, through the gallery, but we have left the face as is - as we think that this unseen layer will help secure those stones.

FAQ

Sizing

What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.

We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
