Antique Signet Ring, 9ct Gold, size Q or 8.25
Antique Signet Ring, 9ct Gold, size Q or 8.25
The year the great war ended. The war to end all wars. And this amazing signet ring was assayed in Birmingham. It must have been an important ring as rationing meant things like jewellery were not top of the list. Perhaps a gift to a husband or son who was returning from 4 years of unimaginable chaos and inhumanity. Seen as a symbol of wealth, these have long been worn by the gentry men as pinky rings.
This fabulous signet has a shield shaped face with the initials "GMR" hand carved into its face. The shoulders are wide and elegantly hand engraved with scrolls, feather like edges and swirls. There are three small flowers engraved at the end of shoulders - one set of which shows much more wear than the others.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
