This is a fireball of a ring. The pale peach-come-yellow cabochon is like a chameleon in the shade, hiding and melding into the yellow gold ring. But take this beauty into the sunshine and the magic comes alive. Like the eye of Sauron, the colours dance magically across the pale face lighting up in fire spots of red, galaxies of green and yellow, and delicate flashes of blue and purple. It is truly magical how these colours appear out of nowhere in such a clear and pale jelly coloured cabochon. Our first non-Australian opal and we are smitten.
Held cleverly in four handmade and unqiue long claws - these hold the stone safe, but also act to protect the sides and edges of the stone. As do the raised balls in the shoulders - elegant crafted gold, but also super useful in keeping the stone from getting easily damaged.
We love the wide band, chunky gold is just such a lovely nod to vintage times - when gold was so much more affordable in the crafting process.

Condition - some surface scratches to the opal - as expected on a stone of this hardness and age - see photos. An inclusion runs though the stone that when you turn it one way gives a film of peach through the stone. Light wear to the metal. Evidence of sizing at the back.
Care - As a general rule - jewellery should not be worn for strenuous tasks that may put pressure, chemicals and weight on them (think cleaning, gym, swimming/spa, carrying things). Jewellery should be inspected every six months by a jeweller to check for wear. Opals are softer than a lot of other gemstones - so particular care should be taken wearing them.
Please be aware that this item is pre-loved and therefore is NOT new. Please see the pictures and description to ensure you are happy with it before you buy. Stones may have tiny marks, chips or flea bites, metal will have marks of wear like surface scratches; but any bigger flaws will be clearly highlighted above. Also note - none of the other items or props in the photo come with the item and all measurements are approximate.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.

As well as Afterpay and Paypal Pay-in-4 which are available at checkout, we also do traditional lay-by.

Valuations
Some of our items come with valuations we either got with the piece, or that we have had done by an independent gemologist. However, we use a number of instruments to help us determine stones and list these details in the description of each piece.
