Custom Cut 4.36ct Octagonal Brown Zircon, Bezel Set, 9ct Yellow Gold, size L1/2 or 6

Zircons - so magical in their colours, and their sparkle is legendary. The second most sparkly natural stone on the plant (after diamond) and this amazing carmel coffee toned stone does not disappoint. Custom cut into a 4.36ct octagonal beauty, this stone is deep and alluring in its rich coffee, chocolate and cognac tones. 

We love a complete story - knowing all the history of the piece - so settle in for this yarn. 

Local Queensland lapidary clubs are filled with fascinating individuals and stories - all keen to share stories and knowledge of all their adventures. One of the amazing old gents lamented that none of his four children were interested in his finds - and so he was parting with some of them. We were so lucky to acquire a handful of his amazing zircons that he had fossicked by hand over the last 50 years across the Harts Ranges in the Northern Territory and out near Emerald in Queensland. These wonderfully sized stones were earthy and rich in their tones - caramels, whiskies, coffees (and even the pink we had cut and set earlier in the year). Stones of this size are just not found any more. This stone was then cut by our amazing team on the Gold Coast - so here we have a locally acquired stone, dug out by hand, and then custom cut within the state. 

This stone has sat in our gems for the last year waiting on the perfect ring - and then there she was - a woven basket vintage 9ct gold ring with a very scratched stone. Our plan had been to just replace the stone and put on a bezel top to protect the stone - but we discovered that the width of the basket was not thick enough to support this - or even really the stone. So instead a new head was made - in the exact same style as the original - but this one is chunky and ready for a new lifetime of love.
