Circa 1940s European Made East West Set Aquamarine and Spinel Tank Inspired Ring, 14ct Rose Gold, size O1/2 or 7.25
Circa 1940s European Made East West Set Aquamarine and Spinel Tank Inspired Ring, 14ct Rose Gold, size O1/2 or 7.25
This amazing ring screams of the 1930s and 1940s. Post War construction of jewellery favoured these style of rings that due to the raised face of rose gold with ribbon like ends from each corner of the stone, this ring has the presence of the tank type ring that was popular at the time, but not the weight. The lack of gold supplies after the war meant jewellers were creative in their designs, but the pieces still had impact. The flat band, the use of rose gold and the use of synthetic spinels all scream of this era. The centre stone was originally a spinel too - but the setting and stone had seen better days - so with a new semi bezel setting (exactly the same style as the one before - and the gorgeous East West setting) and a new natural aquamarine who we picked specifically for this ring due to that amazing colour combination of the pale blue and the rosey gold.
This ring bears an external hallmark that appears to be a Maker's Mark - and trawl as we did through all our European books - we cannot find it. We feel it might be Russian or Dutch - but those are just best hunches.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
