Made for only 78 short years and only in a handful of countries, 15ct gold is a collector's item - and for good reason. Produced in the Uk (and some of her colonies) between 1854 and 1932, this Birmingham made beauty is from the latter period. Made in 1922 this gorgeous Tiger's Eye Cabochon.
Deposits of Tiger's Eye were found in South Africa and Australia in the 1800s, making it an expensive, fashionable and desirable choice for jewellery at the turn of the 20th Century. It was often worn as a talisman to ward off the "evil eye" (done so as far back as Roman soldiers).
We absolutely love this amazing hand carved multi-claw setting - just look at the craftsmanship! And all in our favourite gold.
The band does show its age - it is not straight and it has been lead soldered at some point - this is all part of its character.
Particulars:
Size I or 4.25 (sizeable - but would have to be sized with a different carat of gold)
Weight 2.27g
Width 14.75 x 9.85mm x 7.6mm proud on a half round shank of 1.9 x 0.55mm
Hallmarks Birmingham anchor "15.625" for 15ct gold, "X' for 1922
Condition - this is an antique ring with wear - the band has been soldered with lead - see photos - some surface wear to the stone and handmade claws - band is also not perfectly round or flat - it has charm and personality
Care - As a general rule - jewellery should not be worn for strenuous tasks that may put pressure, chemicals and weight on them (think cleaning, gym, swimming/spa, carrying things). Jewellery should be inspected checked every six months by a jeweller to check for wear.
Please be aware that this item is pre-loved and therefore is NOT new. Please see the pictures and description to ensure you are happy with it before you buy. Stones may have tiny marks, chips or flea bites, metal will have marks of wear like surface scratches; but any bigger flaws will be clearly highlighted above. Also note - none of the other items or props in the photo come with the item and all measurements are approximate.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
Current prices are: $40 for sizing down, $40 for rhodium plating (all white gold rings), and sizing up starts at $50 - and depends on the carat of gold, width of band and number of sizes. These are subject to change at any time and remain linked to the volatile changes in precious metals.
Time frames - sizing is usually complete within 3 weeks.

Valuations
Some of our items come with valuations we either got with the piece, or that we have had done by an independent gemologist. However, we use a number of instruments to help us determine stones and list these details in the description of each piece.
