1940s Palladium Orange Blossom Wedding Ring, Palladium, size R1/2 or 9
1940s Palladium Orange Blossom Wedding Ring, Palladium, size R1/2 or 9
This gorgeous 1940s palladium wedding ring bears orange blossom and what could either be grapes or ripening wheat or corn. We absolutely love the twist on the traditional orange blossom ring and the detail on the ripening harvest is delicate and detailed, and undoubtedly symbolises a rich and profitable union.
The orange blossom pattern has long been associated with the wedding ceremony and hence makes the most perfect wedding band. Symbolising innocence, chastity, purity, good luck, and fertility it is no surprise that this flower motif has been tied to the bride for literally centuries, seen as far back as ancient China and Persia. It has now morphed into a symbol of everlasting love.
We have seen our fair share of gold orange blossom rings - but this is our first palladium - and we are smitten.
Why is it more rare? because it was used a substitute to platinum during the 1940s war efforts. Palladium is a similar metal to platinum (but is 15 times rarer!). However, it is less dense - so has a weight more similar to gold - but unlike white gold it does not need rhodium plated. It is a gorgeous white metal - and it is having a bit of a resurgence in the modern jewellery world (not surprisingly!)
Plus she is such a great wearable size!

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.
