Vintage Diamond Cluster Filigree Rose Ring, 18ct White Gold, size M1/2 or 6.5
Vintage Diamond Cluster Filigree Rose Ring, 18ct White Gold, size M1/2 or 6.5
There is something so utterly romantic about the old hand carved rings. The filigree that has been designed and then meticulously hand carved to create truly magical and unique pieces. Just look at those roses - each hand carved and this ring has obviously not sat against other rings as there is minimal wear to the engravings in the roses etc. This diamond cluster seems to date to approximately the 1930s. The seven diamonds in the cluster are made up of early brilliant and old cut stones (if you look at the macro photos you will see at least one open culet staring back up at you). In the shoulders are two single cut stones - and we love this in old jewellery - a mix of wonderful hand cut stones. Set in lovely 18ct gold the claws are all still good - the outer ones are beginning to show signs of wear - but they do not need replaced yet. As with all jewellery, we advise that you ask your jeweller to inspect your pieces every year and this will allow you to know when these claws will (in time) need re-tipped.
Particulars:
Size M1/2 or 6.5 (moderately sizeable 1 letter sizes max - but not really advised due to filigree)

Width 6.4 x 15 x 5.35mm on a half rounded shank of 1.5 x 1.05mm
Stones - 7 early brilliants and old cut diamonds in the cluster of 1.8-2mm and 2 single cut 1.5mm
Hallmarks "18"
Condition - filigree is in great shape for its age, outer claws are beginning to show wear but do not need re-tipped at this point. We do not advise wearing this ring in a stack due to the wear this would have on the delicate edges.

FAQ
Sizing
What do we mean when we say a ring is "sizeable"? Well, most standard rings can be made bigger or smaller by up to three letter sizes. If we say the item is "moderately sizeable", this usually means about 1 size, and if we say it is "not sizeable" or that "sizing is not recommended" it will be due to the construction - it could be age related, pattern related, have enamel etc.
We can happily help with sizing of rings, so please do get it touch if we can give you a quote.

Valuations
Some of our items come with valuations we either got with the piece, or that we have had done by an independent gemologist.
