First, the word cartouche is actually from the French for bullet as when the French were in Egypt they remarked how similar the shape with the flat and rounded end are like a bullet. The Egyptian word for this rope encasing is actually \"shen\" with the idea that the rope represents your moment in eternity - it loops around your existence and then the rope runs forward and backwards into eternity - so it became a symbol for the infinite - and being remembered infinitely. The Shen is also said to be a protective barrier - and this is why Pharaoh's used them on their graves - it protected their names - kept them sacred. So this is a literal good luck talisman in super chunky gold. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis cartouche ring is in the style of the Pharoah Thutmose the Great, who was one of the great rulers of the 18th Dynasty (1479BC - 1425BC). His tomb bears the three symbols in his second cartouche - that of his throne name. Zircons are not an overly common stone - but in their hey-day (the 1930s) they were popular and it is not hard to see why. With a name so close to the man made cheap Cubic Zirconia, this amazing natural stone is often confused with it - and that is a travesty. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThis blue of this zircon is like an iceberg - it glistens in a very clear baby blue - and because it is the second sparkliest natural stone on earth it really does have a sparkle to it at every turn. This amazing 15ct ring was hallmarked in Chester in 1915, and sadly looks like it was bought purely for this purpose. The ring features a memorial plaque on the front featuring the initials \"M.A\" and \"W.A\", 5 engraved panels above the hair, and 6 panels of delicately woven hair - maybe even all that was sent home from the Front of these two lost souls. The five panels are mirror images - the first pair are almost dragon fire in their design, the next two are decorated crossed Xs and the final panel is a set of arrows.
